Additional Information
Prorating: since September 1, 2008, all WebEditAsia rates have been fully prorated. Example: for jobs billed at a 200RMB/500 words basic rate, if the job is 500 words, the rate is 200RMB; if the job is exactly 750 words, the rate is 300RMB; etc. Use the rate calculator to obtain a specific estimate for your document.
Word Count/Character Count Procedure: All prices are based on the word count before editing. After editing, the document may be shorter or longer, but this does not affect the price. The word count includes all editable words in a document including headings, subheadings, footnotes, endnotes, and so on. All official WebEditAsia wordcounts are based on the wordcount obtained from the Document Properties, “Statistics” tab, when the document is opened with Microsoft Word. All character counts are based on the “Characters” field (without spaces) visible in the same tab. We regret that we cannot accept word counts or character counts obtained using any other software; if you are unsure of your document’s word count, please inquire with us before submitting a job.
Dollar discount: We currently offer a small discount for payments in US dollars. Mainland China customers who wish to use the US dollar payment option must have either: 1) actual US currency in the full amount required, or 2) access to a hard-currency overseas bank account which will allow unrestricted payments into US or Hong Kong banks.
Explanation of delivery times: “Business day” means from 8 AM to 5 PM, China standard time, Monday through Friday, not including national holidays.
- Our standard delivery time for “Chinglish to English” jobs is 3 business days. This means that, when a document (regardless of size) is delivered to us before 5 PM on a given business day, we promise that it will be completed and returned to the customer before 5 PM on the third business day following the day of delivery.
- Example 1: if a “Chinglish to English” document is delivered to us at 3 PM on Monday, it will be returned by 5 PM on Thursday, assuming Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are all business days and not holidays.
- Example 2: if a “Chinglish to English” document is delivered to us at 9:30 PM on a Wednesday, we will consider the document as having been received on a Thursday, because 9:30 PM is after normal business hours. The document will be returned before 5 PM the following Tuesday.
- For jobs requiring Chinese translation, an additional day is required for the primary translation, making the standard delivery time 4 business days for these jobs.
- In many cases, we may be able to return jobs faster than the standard time frame, but we respectfully ask our customers to understand that this may sometimes not be possible, depending on our current workload.
- For emergency jobs (faster than 2 business days), contact us directly for more information.
Difficulty surcharge: For unusually difficult documents, e.g. government circulars, WebEditAsia reserves the right to charge a higher price, typically equivalent to the express surcharge. However, customers will always be notified if this applies before the editing is done; if the customer is unwilling to pay the surcharge, WebEditAsia will return the document to the customer unedited at no charge.
Gold Customer Discounts: Gold Customers may become eligible for discounted rates. Please review our Gold Customer Program page for more information.
